Semester in Australia offers a reliable accommodation and arrivals service, providing pre-arranged, fully furnished rental accommodation that international students ordinarily would not be able to secure until their arrival in Australia.
It’s important to note that Semester in Australia does not own or operate the housing provided to students and instead we offer a housing service, whereby Semester in Australia pre-arranges and secures suitable fully-furnished housing from the pool of privately and independently owned rental accommodation in the suburbs surrounding your university’s campus. Semester in Australia works closely with local landlords and real estate agents to secure good, affordable student rental accommodation that you can book before coming to Australia.
There’s no need to stay in expensive temporary accommodation, spending days searching for an apartment and then having to look for housemates, and no need to worry about how to pay next week’s rent or how to re-connect the power and utilities. Semester in Australia has it sorted!

More value with Semester in Australia
As part of our housing service, students are provided with pre-departure and arrival assistance, making the transition to living and studying in Australia much easier. Upon arrival, students are settled into their accommodation by our local on-site Resident Director. Students are also provided with a “Welcome Pack” containing essential arrival information on living and studying at your Australian university.
Included in the pack is:
- information on what you need to do to get started at university
- campus and city maps
- lists of things to see/do around your Australian host city
- a public transport bus pass with public transport timetable information
- a phone card, making it easier to call home
- important phone numbers and essential information
So there are a few good things about the service – for one, you can book your room and know your address before coming to Australia; go straight from the Airport to your accommodation upon arrival! Also, even though you are coming to Australia by yourself, we place you with other international students studying in Australia for their first time, and who are ready to experience Australia in the same way you are – so you have a ready-made peer support group. Also we have an ‘arrivals service’ where we help you settle in those first couple of days, which students say is a big help. Lastly, we have an on-site Resident Director who is there to help you throughout the semester, so if you have any maintenance issues, etc instead of having to deal with the landlord/real estate agent, calling them up, following up issues all while you are trying to study – we/Semester in Australia take care of any issues, and deal with the landlord/real estate issue. So it’s very convenient!
